Welcome to the surreal landscapes of the White and Black Deserts near Cairo! These unique natural wonders boast stunning rock formations, chalk-white hills, and volcanic rocks that will leave you in awe. Camping here offers a magical experience under the starry skies that you won’t soon forget.
The journey will begin promptly at 07:00 from your hotel in Giza or Cairo, where you will be picked up for a trip to Bahariya Oasis, located approximately 350 km. The drive will take about 4 hours, with scheduled stops along the way for restroom breaks and coffee. Upon arrival, you will embark on a thrilling adventure in a 4×4 Jeep to explore the stunning Black Desert. Lunch will be served at El Haize Oasis, providing a moment of relaxation before continuing to the renowned White Desert National Park.
In the White Desert, you will witness the extraordinary beauty of unique rock formations that have developed over millions of years. The Valley of Agabat, nestled deep within the White Desert, offers a surreal experience that transports you to another world. As the sky transitions from pink to fiery orange, the rock shapes blend into the landscape, creating a sense of tranquility and awe-inspiring beauty.
In the evening, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a simple yet delicious meal of chicken, rice, and vegetables around a small fire, surrounded by the vast expanse of the desert. Bedouin staff will ensure that dinner is served and that your desert camping experience is comfortable and memorable. This journey promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural wonders of Egypt’s desert landscapes.
You will begin your day with a delightful breakfast in the desert, followed by a scenic drive to Bahariya Oasis. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to visit Crystal Mountain, also known as Gebel al-Izzaz. This stunning natural formation, resembling a crystal hill, is composed of quartzite crystals that sparkle in the sunlight. Discovered by chance several decades ago, Crystal Mountain is often referred to as the Jewel of the desert.
After exploring Crystal Mountain, you will continue your journey to Bahariya Oasis. Here, you can unwind and rejuvenate at Bir Sigam, a renowned hot spring located 7 km east of Bahariya on the Cairo road. Known for its therapeutic properties, Bir Sigam is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Following your visit to the hot spring, you will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in Bahariya. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to explore the oasis further, including the palm and olive fields, Gebel Maghrafa, and Lake al-Marun, the largest salt lake in Bahariya Oasis.
As the day draws to a close, you will witness a breathtaking sunset from the summit of the English Mountain (Gebel Al Ingleez). From this vantage point, you will be treated to a panoramic view of the northern part of the oasis.
Finally, you will make your way to your hotel in Bahariya for check-in, where you can relax and unwind after a day of exploration and discovery.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we will embark on a fascinating journey to explore the tombs of Bannentiu and Djed-Ankh-Amun-Iuf (Zed-Amun) at Qasr Selim, dating back to the 26th Dynasty. In 1938, the renowned Egyptian archaeologist Ahmed Fakhry (1905-1973) unearthed four tombs at the ridge of Qarat Qasr Selim, shedding light on ancient history.
Our next stop will be Bawiti, the vibrant capital of Bahariya Oasis, where we will immerse ourselves in the rich culture and history of the region. We will visit the Museum of the Golden Mummies and the Temple of Ain El Muftella, both offering a glimpse into the fascinating past of Bahariya Oasis.
After a day filled with exploration and discovery, we will make our way back to Cairo, reflecting on the wonders we have witnessed throughout the day.

Started with an on time arrival at our location on the Corniche followed by an exceptionally well planned day seeing the highlights in Alexandria. Really knowledgeable about history and answered all our questions at the sites we visited and even sights we didn’t. He took us to places we would have never found in our own and shared very specific details from various scholars and archaeologists. Our Seafood lunch was very tasty and a nice time to relax. Comfortable vehicle and he always found good parking. I will be recommending Tarek to all my friends!
