Private Tour
5:00 am
Welcome to Siwa Oasis, a hidden gem in the Egyptian desert known for its natural beauty and rich history. Located near the Libyan border, Siwa stands out for its stunning landscapes, including lush date palm groves and salt lakes. Its unique culture, influenced by Berber traditions, adds an exotic charm to your travel experience.
The tour will commence with a pick-up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza at 5:00 am. We highly recommend ordering a breakfast box from your hotel due to the early departure. Our first destination is El Alamein, located 259 km away, with an estimated driving time of 3 hours. Along the way, we will make a brief stop for a coffee break. We anticipate arriving at El Alamein at 8:30 am.
Upon arrival, we will visit the El Alamein Museum from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. The museum provides valuable insights into the historic Battle of El Alamein. Located approximately 1 mile west of the British memorial, the museum showcases war memorabilia, including the tombs of Italian and German soldiers, as well as Commonwealth War Graves. Following our visit, we will proceed to Marsa Matrouh.
At 11:30 am, we will depart for Siwa via Marsa Matrouh, covering a driving distance of 485 km. The journey is expected to take approximately 6 hours and 6 minutes. A light lunch will be provided en route. Upon reaching Siwa, dinner will be served at the hotel.
Please note that the schedule is subject to change based on traffic conditions and unforeseen circumstances. We look forward to providing you with a memorable and informative tour experience.
After enjoying your breakfast, you will embark on an unforgettable adventure to the Salt Lake and the Great Sand Sea. Your first stop will be the salt lake, which boasts hyper-salinity properties similar to Jordan’s Dead Sea. This unique feature not only offers a healing experience but also allows for a delightful swim. From there, you will proceed to Cleopatra’s Bath.
Cleopatra’s Bath, located in the springs of Siwa, is renowned throughout the western desert. This spring, also known as the Spring of the Sun, has been a point of interest for travelers to Siwa since ancient times. Legend has it that even Cleopatra herself swam in these waters during her visit to the Siwa oasis, as did Alexander the Great.
Next, you will venture into the desert to explore the Great Sand Sea by 4×4 Jeep. Along the way, you will visit the hot and cold spring Bir Waheed, followed by a relaxing moment to enjoy traditional Bedouin Tea as you watch the sunset.
Your overnight stay will be at a desert camp, where you will indulge in a delicious BBQ dinner. If you prefer a hotel stay instead of camping, we also offer comfortable Ecolodges in Siwa. Your adventure awaits!
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on a journey to explore the captivating attractions of Siwa. Our first stop will be the renowned Alexander the Great Temple, also known as the Temple of the Oracle.
The Temple of the Oracle is a magnificent structure dedicated to the god Amun, constructed during the twenty-sixth Dynasty. This temple, along with its oracle, thrived during the Greek and Roman eras. Legend has it that Alexander the Great sought confirmation of his divine heritage as the son of Zeus from the Siwan oracle. Upon his arrival, he was greeted by a procession of eighty priests, with the oracle symbolically represented with ram horns, the emblem of Amun.
Next, we will visit Cleopatra’s Bath, also known as the Spring of the Sun, where it is said that the legendary queen herself once swam. Continuing our journey, we will explore the Temple of Umm Ubaydah, erected by Pharaoh Nectanebo of the 30th Dynasty.
Our tour will then take us to Gebel Al Mawta, or the Mountain of the Dead, where tombs dating back to the twenty-sixth Dynasty, Ptolemaic, and Roman periods are carved into the mountainside. There are four notable tombs to explore at Gebel Al-Mawta.
As the day draws to a close, we will make our way to Fatnas at Sunset, a picturesque small island in Birket Siwa. Here, you can witness a breathtaking sunset over the lake, with Gebel Bayda and Hamra providing a stunning backdrop to the west. Stroll through the garden on the island, where you will find a variety of trees including banana, date, and olive trees.

She is, without exaggeration, one of the most exceptional guides I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. Incredibly knowledgeable, brilliantly organized, fluent in English, attentive, passionate, and genuinely dedicated to making the experience perfect for you. The GEM is absolutely massive, and after trying to visit it alone two days earlier, I can honestly say having a guide like Amany completely transforms the experience. On my first visit, I felt overwhelmed and missed so many important masterpieces. With Amany, every moment was optimized perfectly. I explained to her that I wanted to arrive right at opening time to photograph the museum’s most spectacular treasures before the crowds arrived, and then later take the time to walk through the galleries and really learn the stories behind the pieces. She executed this plan flawlessly. Everything was seamless, efficient, and perfectly timed. What impressed me most was how respectful and intuitive she was throughout the tour. She never rushed, never pushed, and completely adapted the experience to exactly what I wanted. She made the entire visit feel personal, relaxed, and unforgettable. And as an amazing bonus, she also gave me fantastic local food recommendations — a huge plus for a serious foodie like me! I cannot recommend Amany highly enough. If you book with the company, make sure you specifically ask for her. She is truly a world-class guide and an absolute gem herself. I contacted the owner Tariq via WhatsApp. We exchanged messages and had a phone conversation to set out an inteniary. Price was agreed, although we had some back and forth on payment schedule. In terms of service provided, it was excellent. We were met at the airport, fast-tracked through passport control, driven in air conditioned van to hotel. Tour guide (Mahmoud Khalifa) looked after us for 3 days in Cairo. Mahmoud is a graduate in the field and highly knowledgeable. He was excellent throughout as was our driver Mustafa. Overall, an unparalleled experience for the whole family in a unique city.Posted on Tripadvisor Daydream784306Verified An experience of a life time Tarek was absolutely fantastic we had him for 2 day tours.
